Astrid Reaching Higher

While things have been quiet on our blog for a while, I assure you our humble little team has been checking off a number of things on our to-do lists and building out tools to help the world become more productive.

We will be writing more in the coming days, but I wanted to give you a quick summary of what we have been working on in case you saw us written up in Tech Crunch, Forbes or  The New York Times.

Higher Priority
Up until Astrid has primarily been a part time project that Tim and I have been building out and supporting. We have been paying some of our friends and always welcoming collaboration from the open-source community, but most of what has been built was by us nights and weekends. Most of our time was going to building out other projects (like Todoroo) and working for our previous employers (Tim was at Palantir Technologies and I was spending much of my time running another company, Graceful Tools).

We feel like Astrid has been a pretty wonderful “side project” so far, having helped over 1.9 million people complete over 17 million tasks, but we are excited to give Astrid the attention it deserves. This is why we decided to put Todoroo on ice, have found a buyer for our previous company and are renaming our company to Astrid & Co.

More Resources
In addition to having more of our time, we we excited to announce that we have brought in some external funding so we can hire additional engineers. We will announce specifics in a future announcement, but we can say that our investors, in addition to supplying capital, bring a wealth of experience designing fantastic products.

So now that you have more time, more people, and more money, what are you going to do with it?

For the full story you will need to wait a bit longer, but let us give you a couple hints.

1) Kill bugs! We hate them more than you do (really!) and we always aim for perfection.

2) We have built an amazing service to sync and share with others that is way simpler than anything else we have seen.

3) An iPhone version (no boos please!). Astrid for the iPhone may not have all of the power of Android right away, but we’re sure some of your friends have joined this particular cult, and we want to help you work together.

4) Finally – we are excited to announce that Astrid.com will soon be launched! This will provide 100% sync / backup, and a lot more.

We are working hard and can’t wait to make your lives easier and more fun!
