***Please see the newest instructions here: Teach Astrid to Speak Your Language***
The Astrid development team and the hundreds of thousands of Astrid users are deeply grateful for those who continue to teach Astrid new languages and help Astrid get better at the ones she already knows. Â Below are some steps you can take to become one of these incredibly helpful translators!
To add translations follow these steps:
- Register with launchpad and confirm your email addresses (www.launchpad.net)
- Add the languages that you can translate to your profile. In Overview -> Profile -> click on the little icon under/to the right of the languages heading.
- Check off the languages you can translate and “Save”.
- Finally go to https://translations.launchpad.net/astrid/trunk to translate!
Translation Guidelines
We ask you to consider the following when submitting a translation:
1) Is it accurate?Â
This is probably obvious but worth saying. We want the translations to be accurate. They should be clear and make sense in the language. They should fit with the context.
2) Is it consistent?
Is the word being used consistent across the translation? It can get really confusing if “task” is used in parts of the app while “action” is used in other parts. Please try to maintain consistency whenever possible.
3) Will it fit?
Sometimes we get wonderful accurate translations that look absolutely horrendous when they display in mobile. The problem? They are too long. Whenever you can please keep your translations brief.
How to fix a missing or bad translation in your language.
If you discover there is an error with the translation in your language you can help. We review and update translations with each major release. Â Below are the steps you can take to help us out.
1) Identify the location of the bad translation using the images below
2) Go to translations.launchpad.net/astrid and search for based on the english label for the poor/missing translated phrase (search based on the yellow label)
3) Amend the translation
4) Wait for the next release! You can get the latest build at  http://bit.ly/astrid-latest. We’ll be updating the languages a few times a week, so it won’t be long before your contribution is incorporated.
