We’re happy to announce drag and drop ordering as well as subtasks on the web, two features that many of our users have been asking for. These features now sync to Android, with iOS support to follow.
Update: We’ve updated the web and Android to support these features in the Today and My Tasks views as well.
Drag & Drop Organizing
Astrid now allows you to manually order your tasks by dragging and dropping when inside a list, not in My Tasks. First, you have to turn on Drag & Drop in the sort options.
Then you are free to pick up a task and move it around.
You can also drag and drop tasks into lists on the left hand side.
Subtasks
First, turn on Hotkeys. Go to Settings > Preferences and click Hotkeys.
Once you’ve turned on Drag & Drop mode (see above), you can also organize your list into subtasks. You can create as many levels of indentation by simply pressing Tab while a task is selected. To move an item back one level, use Shift + Tab.
If you drag a top level task, all the subtasks will move with it. If you check off a top level task, all the subtasks will also be completed.
Subtasks is a feature that many of you asked for, but there are lots of different ways of implementing it. After talking with many of you, this is what we believe suits people’s needs the best.
